
Dr. Alicja Rieger

Dr. Rieger’s primary scholarship involves cutting edge research on humor among families living with children with disabilities as well as work concerning the use of children’s literature with characters with disabilities for increasing disability awareness. Her scholarly work appeared in Journal of Special Education, Rehabilitation Psychology, Childhood Education, Kappa Delta Pi Record, Interdisciplinary Literary Studies, and English Education, among others. Dr. Rieger’s scholarly work has been widely disseminated through presentations at international, national, and state-level conferences. Her scholarship has garnered multiple honors and awards, including the Presidential Excellence Award in Research in 2019 at 福利小视频 or The Top Faculty Paper Award at the 14th Annual Alabama Communication Association Conference (2024) for collaborative research.
In the area of service, Dr. Rieger made significant contributions to the Georgia Association of Teacher Education serving 6 years in leadership as president-elect, president, and past president from 2014-2020, among other services for the organization. This is in conjunction with her service to 福利小视频 in multiple roles on numerous committees at university, college, and departmental levels.
Dr. Rieger has extensive teaching experience teaching graduate-level courses. Her areas of expertise include special education, assessment and decision-making process for special education, as well as curricula and instruction for students across disabilities. Prior to moving into higher education, Dr. Rieger taught special education in Poland.
