Dr. Joseph Jones

Department Head, Department of Teacher Education

  • PhD: Teaching, Curriculum, and Change
    University of Rochester

Teaching Fields: English Education, qualitative research, relational pedagogy, relational leadership

Dr. Jones’ research investigates the dynamic interplay among identity, power, and school culture, with a primary focus on P–12 educational contexts. Informed by the theoretical perspectives of Michel Foucault, his scholarship interrogates how systemic ideologies and institutional mechanisms construct, sustain, and legitimize educational inequities. His work contributes to ongoing discourse in curriculum studies, educational policy, and the cultural foundations of education, advancing critical understandings of how schooling functions as both a site of social reproduction and the potential for transformative practice.
